About Us

Caseback Chronicles was born at the intersection of two obsessions:
precision investigation and precision timekeeping.

By day, I work in digital forensics — analyzing data, authenticating artifacts, reconstructing timelines, and uncovering truth from technical detail. By night (and far too many weekends), I hunt watches.

What started as a hobby turned into something deeper. Watches are artifacts. They carry manufacturing history, movement architecture, serial number stories, design evolution, and sometimes… red flags.

In forensics, we ask:

  • Is it authentic?

  • Has it been altered?

  • What does the metadata say?

  • What’s the chain of custody?

In watches, we ask the same questions:

  • Is the dial original?

  • Is the movement correct?

  • Does the caseback match the reference?

  • Has it been polished, swapped, over-restored?

Caseback Chronicles applies investigative discipline to watch collecting. Every piece we source is examined with a forensic mindset — not just to authenticate, but to understand.

What We Do

🕰 Curated Watch Sales

We source interesting mechanical and quartz watches — vintage, modern, obscure, and occasionally misunderstood. Every piece is described transparently, with attention to condition and originality.

🔍 Watch Forensics & Authentication

We break down what makes a watch legitimate — or questionable. Through blog posts, livestreams, and breakdowns, we teach collectors how to spot redials, Frankenwatches, incorrect movements, and over-polished cases.

📺 Whatnot Livestreams

Our live auctions on Whatnot aren’t just sales — they’re educational deep dives. We discuss:

  • Dial typography

  • Movement architecture

  • Case construction

  • Brand history

  • Market myths

If you’ve ever wanted Antiques Roadshow energy with forensic cross-examination… welcome.

Why “Caseback Chronicles”?

The caseback is where the truth hides.

Engravings. Reference numbers. Movement stamps. Service marks. Serial sequences. It’s the quiet underside of a watch that often tells the real story.

In digital forensics, truth hides in metadata.

In watches, it hides under the caseback.

We chronicle both.

Our Philosophy

We believe:

  • Transparency builds trust.

  • Condition matters.

  • History matters more.

  • Not every flaw is fatal.

  • Education makes better collectors.

  • A watch is more than a flex — it’s mechanical art.

We’re not here to hype.
We’re here to analyze.

For the Collectors Who…

  • Zoom into macro photos.

  • Care about correct handsets.

  • Get excited about obscure calibers.

  • Appreciate guilloché patterns and bridge finishing.

  • Want to understand why something is valuable — not just that it is.

If that’s you, you’re in the right place.
